Preface HOW TO USE THIS BOOK

Dynamics is a rational discipline, and thus requires a certain mathematical rigor both in the presentation of the subject matter and in the approach to problem-solving. Although Dynamics does not require advanced mathematical tools, it is necessary for students to be familiar with basic geometry, vector calculus and concepts of linear algebra. If students are unfamiliar with these notions, it is strongly recommended that they first review the material presented in Appendix A.
As with other subjects, learning Dynamics requires a great deal of practice. In order to master the subject matter, the student is encouraged to work and re-work all example problems. The solutions of these problems are not meant to be simply read, but to be worked through. It is only by attempting each problem by himself, instead of passively reading the solution provided in the book, that the student will gain lasting benefits.
